FAQ
BTT, BitTorrent &
BTTSwap — Answered
Everything you need to know about BTT tokens, BitTorrent DeFi, swapping, staking, and using BTTSwap.
What is BTTSwap?+
BTTSwap is a non-custodial DeFi platform built on TRON, purpose-built for BitTorrent (BTT) token holders. It combines best-rate token swapping, BTT staking for yield, cross-chain bridging, liquidity pool provision, and DeFi credit — all in one interface, with no KYC or account registration required.
What is BTT (BitTorrent Token)?+
BTT (BitTorrent Token) is the native utility token of the BitTorrent ecosystem, now operated under TRON. It was originally issued as TRC-10 and later migrated to the TRC-20 standard. BTT is used to incentivize file sharing on the BitTorrent network, pay for premium BitTorrent Speed bandwidth, and participate in BTT DeFi protocols including staking and liquidity provision on platforms like BTTSwap.
How do I swap BTT on BTTSwap?+
Connect your TronLink wallet by clicking "Connect Wallet" in the top right. Select BTT as your input or output token in the Swap widget. Enter your desired amount, review the quoted rate, price impact, and route. Click "Swap Now" and approve the transaction in your wallet. TRON finality is under 3 seconds, so your swapped BTT arrives almost instantly.
How do I stake BTT on BTTSwap?+
Navigate to the Staking tab in the BTTSwap widget or click "Stake BTT" in the header. Connect your wallet, enter the BTT amount you want to stake, and select a lock period — flexible, 30 days, 90 days, or 365 days. Longer locks earn higher APY bonuses. Confirm the transaction in TronLink and your BTT staking position activates immediately. Rewards begin accruing in real time.
What APY can I earn staking BTT?+
BTT staking APY on BTTSwap is dynamic and depends on the total amount of BTT staked in the protocol, your chosen lock period, and current market conditions. Flexible staking earns the base APY, while longer lock periods earn bonus multipliers. Exact APY figures are displayed live in the Staking panel after connecting your wallet. Staking rewards are distributed in BTT.
What is BitTorrent and how does it relate to BTT?+
BitTorrent is the world's largest decentralized peer-to-peer file sharing protocol, with over 100 million monthly active users. Acquired by TRON Foundation in 2018, BitTorrent launched BTT (BitTorrent Token) to tokenize bandwidth exchange on the network. BTT incentivizes users to share files faster and longer. BTTSwap lets you trade, stake, and earn with BTT in the DeFi ecosystem built around this protocol.
What is the difference between BTT TRC-10 and BTT TRC-20?+
The original BTT token was a TRC-10 token — a simpler TRON token standard that doesn't support smart contracts. In 2022, BitTorrent completed a token swap migrating from TRC-10 to the newer TRC-20 standard (which is compatible with TRON smart contracts and DeFi protocols). BTTSwap operates exclusively with the new TRC-20 BTT token. If you hold old TRC-10 BTT, you should complete the official migration before using BTTSwap.
How does BTT cross-chain bridging work on BTTSwap?+
BTTSwap's Bridge tab lets you move BTT and other TRC-20 tokens across 30+ blockchains in a single user action. Select your source network (e.g. TRON), destination network (e.g. Ethereum), and enter the amount. BTTSwap combines DEX aggregation with atomic bridge protocols: your BTT is locked on TRON, a canonical representation is minted on the destination chain, and the bridged asset arrives in your wallet — typically within 3 minutes.
Can I provide liquidity with BTT on BTTSwap?+
Yes. The Pool tab lets you add liquidity to BTT trading pairs including BTT/USDT, BTT/TRX, and BTT/ETH. As a liquidity provider, you earn a proportional share of all trading fees generated by that pool, in addition to any liquidity mining incentives. You receive LP tokens representing your pool position, which can be staked for additional BTT rewards in supported incentive programs.
What wallets are supported by BTTSwap?+
BTTSwap supports TronLink (recommended for TRON/BTT swaps), MetaMask, Trust Wallet, WalletConnect (200+ compatible wallets), Coinbase Wallet, Ledger hardware wallet, Trezor, and Phantom. For BTT swaps on TRON, TronLink is the most seamless option. For cross-chain operations involving ETH or BNB Chain, any EVM-compatible wallet works alongside BTTSwap's bridge interface.
What fees does BTTSwap charge for BTT swaps?+
BTTSwap charges a protocol fee starting at 0.01% of swap value — among the lowest in the BTT and TRON DeFi ecosystem. You also pay the underlying TRON network gas fee, which is typically under $0.01 per transaction. The full price displayed in your quote is all-inclusive, so there are no hidden fees. What you see is exactly what you receive.
Is BTTSwap safe? Is it audited?+
BTTSwap is fully non-custodial — your BTT and other tokens remain in your wallet until the moment a swap executes atomically on-chain. Smart contracts are audited by leading security firms. MEV protection shields every BTT swap from front-running bots. If a cross-chain swap cannot complete for any reason, your funds are automatically returned to your originating wallet. No private keys are ever required by BTTSwap.
What is BTT staking and how are rewards calculated?+
BTT staking on BTTSwap means depositing your BTT tokens into a staking smart contract in exchange for yield rewards. Rewards are calculated based on: (1) your share of the total BTT staked pool, (2) the protocol's staking reward emission rate, and (3) any lock-period bonus multiplier you've activated. Rewards are distributed continuously and can be claimed or compounded at any time through the BTTSwap interface.
Can I unstake BTT early?+
Flexible staking (no lock period) allows you to unstake BTT at any time with no penalty. For locked positions (30d, 90d, 365d), early withdrawal may incur a penalty fee, which is redirected to remaining stakers as a bonus. The exact early unstake penalty percentage is shown in your staking dashboard. After the lock period expires, you can withdraw your BTT and accrued rewards freely.
What is BTT Credit on BTTSwap?+
BTT Credit is BTTSwap's DeFi lending module that lets you collateralize your BTT holdings to borrow stablecoins (USDT, USDC) or other assets without selling your BTT. You maintain exposure to BTT price appreciation while unlocking liquidity. Your collateral ratio and health factor are monitored in real time. If your collateral value drops below the liquidation threshold, the protocol automatically liquidates a portion of your BTT to repay the loan.
What is the total supply of BTT (BitTorrent Token)?+
The total supply of BTT (BitTorrent Token) in its TRC-20 form is 990 trillion tokens (990,000,000,000,000 BTT). This very large supply is a deliberate design choice reflecting BTT's utility as a micropayment token within the BitTorrent network, where billions of small-value payments for bandwidth exchange occur. The large denomination makes BTT suitable for granular micropayments without requiring decimal precision.
How fast are BTT swaps on TRON?+
BTT swaps on the TRON network finalize in under 3 seconds thanks to TRON's delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism. This makes BTTSwap one of the fastest DEX experiences available — far faster than Ethereum-based swaps which take 12–60 seconds or more. For cross-chain BTT bridge operations, finality depends on the destination chain and typically completes within 1–5 minutes.
What is slippage in BTT swaps and how should I set it?+
Slippage is the maximum acceptable difference between the quoted BTT price and the actual executed price, caused by market movement between the moment you request a quote and when the transaction confirms on-chain. For most BTT/USDT swaps on TRON, 0.1%–0.5% is sufficient. For large BTT swaps or volatile tokens, use 1%. BTTSwap's "Auto" mode dynamically sets the optimal slippage for each BTT pair based on historical volatility.
Does BTTSwap require KYC or account registration?+
No. BTTSwap is completely permissionless — you never need to create an account, provide an email address, or complete KYC identity verification of any kind. Simply connect a compatible wallet (TronLink for BTT on TRON, or MetaMask for cross-chain swaps) and you're ready to trade BTT instantly. Your wallet address is your identity in BTTSwap.
How does MEV protection work for BTT swaps?+
MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) bots monitor public mempools and front-run swap transactions, buying BTT before your trade and selling it to you at an inflated price. BTTSwap routes all BTT swap transactions through private relay mempools where bots cannot detect or front-run them. This protection saves users an average of $15–$80 on large BTT trades and ensures you always receive the price quoted — not the price after a bot has skimmed your transaction.
What is BitTorrent Speed and how does BTT relate to it?+
BitTorrent Speed is a feature integrated into the BitTorrent and µTorrent clients that lets users pay BTT tokens to download files faster, and earn BTT tokens by seeding (uploading) files to others. It creates a decentralized economy for bandwidth: downloaders bid BTT, seeders earn BTT, and fast downloaders get prioritized. BTTSwap helps users convert earned BTT into other tokens or increase their BTT position for more efficient participation in the BitTorrent Speed economy.
How does BTTSwap find the best BTT swap rate?+
BTTSwap's routing engine simultaneously queries 300+ DEX pools on TRON — including SunSwap, JustSwap, and dozens of smaller AMMs — and uses a pathfinding algorithm to split your BTT order optimally across multiple pools. This minimizes price impact and maximizes the output token amount. Quotes refresh every 5 seconds to ensure you always act on accurate, real-time BTT pricing.
What are the risks of providing BTT liquidity?+
The primary risk of BTT liquidity provision is impermanent loss (IL) — a temporary loss that occurs when the price ratio between BTT and the paired token (e.g. USDT) changes significantly from when you deposited. If BTT price rises sharply, you earn less BTT appreciation than simply holding. However, trading fee income from BTT swaps can offset or exceed IL over time. BTTSwap displays an IL estimator in the Pool dashboard to help you evaluate this tradeoff.
What is the BTT/USDT liquidity pool on BTTSwap?+
The BTT/USDT liquidity pool is the highest-volume BTT trading pair on BTTSwap, facilitating most BTT-to-stablecoin conversions and vice versa. Liquidity providers deposit equal USD-value amounts of BTT and USDT (TRC-20) into the pool and receive BTT/USDT LP tokens in return. These LP tokens represent your share of the pool and earn trading fees automatically. LP tokens can also be staked in BTTSwap incentive vaults for additional BTT rewards.
Can I get a preview BTT swap quote without connecting a wallet?+
You can enter BTT amounts and preview route breakdowns in the BTTSwap widget without connecting a wallet. Rate quotes and price impact estimates are visible immediately. Your wallet balance is not shown until you connect, and you cannot execute a swap without a wallet connection — but you can research and plan your BTT trade fully before committing to a wallet connection.
What networks can I bridge BTT to?+
Using BTTSwap's Bridge, you can move BTT from TRON to Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche, and other supported networks. You can also bridge BTT-equivalent assets in the reverse direction — from EVM chains back to TRON. The Bridge tab shows all supported destination chains and their estimated bridge fees and times before you commit to a transaction.
What is price impact in a BTT swap?+
Price impact is the percentage difference between the mid-market BTT price and the actual price you receive on your swap, caused by your trade moving the pool's price curve. Small BTT swaps relative to pool size have negligible price impact. Large BTT trades in shallow pools can have significant price impact (1–5%+). BTTSwap's smart routing splits large BTT orders across multiple pools to minimize price impact, displaying the estimated impact clearly before you confirm.
Is BTTSwap available on mobile?+
Yes. BTTSwap is a fully responsive web application accessible on any device — desktop, tablet, or smartphone. For mobile BTT swaps on TRON, use the TronLink mobile app's built-in dApp browser to access bttswap.org directly. For EVM chains on mobile, MetaMask Mobile or Trust Wallet's dApp browser work seamlessly with BTTSwap's bridge and swap interfaces.
How do I claim my BTT staking rewards?+
BTT staking rewards accrue continuously in your staking dashboard. To claim them, navigate to the Staking tab in BTTSwap, connect your wallet, and click "Claim Rewards." Confirm the transaction in TronLink and your earned BTT rewards transfer to your wallet immediately. You can also choose to auto-compound your rewards — re-staking them instantly to maximize your BTT yield position without a separate transaction.
What is the difference between BTT swap and BTT staking?+
A BTT swap is an instant exchange of BTT for another token (or vice versa) — you send BTT and immediately receive a different asset. BTT staking means depositing your BTT into a smart contract for a period of time in exchange for yield rewards, without changing your exposure to BTT. You still hold BTT (it's locked), and you earn additional BTT on top. Swaps are for changing your asset allocation; staking is for generating passive income on your existing BTT holdings.
How does BTTSwap handle failed transactions?+
If a BTT swap transaction fails — due to slippage exceeding your tolerance, insufficient gas, or a network issue — your BTT tokens remain safely in your wallet. Nothing is lost. The transaction simply doesn't execute. BTTSwap will display an error message explaining the cause. For cross-chain bridge operations that fail mid-way, funds are automatically returned to the source chain wallet via the protocol's rollback mechanism, typically within minutes.
Does BTTSwap support BTT token burning?+
A portion of BTTSwap protocol fees is directed toward the BTT ecosystem treasury, which may participate in coordinated BTT burning events as announced by the BitTorrent ecosystem governance. BTT token burns reduce the circulating supply, which can positively impact scarcity. BTTSwap itself does not independently burn BTT on each swap, but operates in alignment with the broader BitTorrent token economic framework governed by the TRON/BitTorrent team.
What is BTTC (BitTorrent Chain)?+
BTTC (BitTorrent Chain) is a heterogeneous cross-chain interoperability protocol launched in late 2021 that connects TRON, Ethereum, and BNB Chain. It enables fast, low-cost asset transfers between these chains using a PoS sidechain architecture. BTTSwap integrates BTTC bridge infrastructure, allowing users to bridge BTT and other assets across the three networks supported by the BitTorrent Chain without relying on third-party bridges.
Can I swap BTT to stablecoins directly?+
Yes. BTTSwap supports direct BTT-to-stablecoin swaps including BTT → USDT (TRC-20), BTT → USDC, and BTT → TUSD. These are the most liquid pairs on TRON and typically have the lowest slippage and best price impact. The BTT/USDT pair on TRON is the dominant BTT liquidity venue, with tens of millions of dollars in daily trading volume routed through BTTSwap.
How do I get TRX to pay gas fees for BTT swaps?+
TRON transactions require a small amount of TRX for network energy and bandwidth fees, which are extremely cheap — typically under $0.01 per BTT swap. You can acquire TRX from any major centralized exchange (Binance, Huobi, OKX) and withdraw it directly to your TronLink wallet address. Once you have a small TRX balance (5–20 TRX is enough for many swaps), you're ready to swap BTT on BTTSwap without interruption.
